Research at alwaysbecooking operates on a fundamental principle: we use science to understand systems, and engineering to control them. Where investigation exposes what's being obscured and documentation records what exists, research seeks to understand how things actually workâthe patterns, the mechanisms, the evidence.
We practice research engineering rather than research science. Instead of pursuing novel breakthroughs, we take existing knowledge, experiment with it in our hyperlocal context, and document what works. Operating from a home-based setup with makeshift equipment, our mission isn't academic publication but building collective intelligence about where we live.
This fiber covers our approach to community-accessible research, constraint-based methodology, sustainability models, and methods for planning research projects.
We also want to give back to the community with upstream contributions to scientific/geo libraries. Build out public digital infrastructure, create educational resources, tooling and forum. Similar to what pangeo does.
