Manufacturing Loop

Short feedback cycle between making and selling. Can't source good planters at the right price? We prototype and build them. Love someone's approach to documenting repair processes? We stock their zines. Notice a gap in garden tool ergonomics? We iterate designs through our own use before offering them.

This keeps us nimble - we're not locked into vendor relationships or stuck with inventory that doesn't align with how we work. If something doesn't work, we adjust quickly.

From Making to Selling

  • Prototype in-house: Test designs through our own use
  • Iterate based on feedback: Real-world use informs improvements
  • Scale when ready: Move from personal use to offering others
  • Stay flexible: No long-term commitments to products that don't work

Examples:

  • Can't find the right planter design → make our own → offer to others
  • Love a local maker's zine → stock it → create distribution channel
  • Notice tool ergonomics issue → redesign → test → manufacture
